Mission

The mission of the Independent Science Review Board (ISRB) of Lane County is to provide independent pro bono analyses of selected, significant scientific issues that arise in the course of public decision making in the Eugene/Springfield/Lane County region. The Board will accept requests for review from any citizen, agency, or elected official. The ISRB will select which issues to review and will assemble a panel to analyze the scientific evidence relating to each issue selected for review. These pro bono scientific analyses will be written in a language accessible to the public and will contribute to informed, scientifically accountable, public decisions made by elected/appointed public officials.

Membership

The ISRB is comprised of no more than ten scientists spanning a breadth of scientific disciplines, plus a lay person to help oversee processes and documents for transparency, quality control, and understandability to non-scientists of report language. The Board will appoint panelists to investigate selected issues.
